Last week in New Zealand’s south island

Dunes on Wharariki beach

In our final week in the south island we have travelled up from the fjord lands to the dunes and beaches of the northern tip.  After a short walk in Abel Tasman National Park Nat and I headed for Wharariki beach (pronounced Farariki) where we watched all kinds of exotic sea birds retreating from the incoming tide.  From there we wound our way back to Nelson through historic vineyards and galleries before arriving at the home of Libby, the mother of a coworker of Nat’s.  Libby is an avid reader who has travelled extensively and she graciously put us up for peaceful two days.
