Disappearing up the Ou river

We have been off the cyberspace grid for the past ten days in the villages of Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoi Neua.  Neither of these had internet or banks and Muang Ngoi Neua only had electricity from 6 to 10 at night in some areas (running off generators).  We have been travelling slowly through Laos so as to enjoy the beautiful scenery and relaxed culture.  Nong Khiaw is situated along the river at the base of two massive cliffs.  These rolling mountains continue all along the banks of the Ou river.  Muang Ngoi Neua is only accessible by boat and consists of one main dirt road.  We treked to many caves, visited nearby villages and indulged in the local moonshine, Lao-lao.
