Kaziranga National Park

Sunset on the grasslands

Our permits didn’t work out for the restricted province of Arunachal Pradesh so we decided to head a little further east into Assam and visit Kaziranga National Park.  This park houses two thirds of all the Asiatic one-horn rhinos in the world.  We took a 25$ elephant safari which allowed us to get closer to the animals without scaring them off.  There were six rhinos and two baby rhinos, a large herd of deer and wild boar.  The park is huge and contains tall elephant grass, open plains and jungle-like forests.
